The White House has unveiled a plan to ensure that low to middle class Americans energy costs are reduced.
Launched on July 7, the solar energy plan is geared towards helping reduce the energy costs for both the middle and low income Americans. The plan will also help fight climate changes. This initiative will assist in financing solar improvements at homes and increase solar energy in federally subsidized housing.
According to Brian Deese the president’s climate change advisor, our economy is stronger if every citizen has the tools to take part in moving toward solar energy. In the process of taking innovation to a healthier energy economy, there is a need to put more efforts in increasing opportunities for all families to get the benefits of using healthier energy sources.
When making this announcement, the White House confirmed that it is working toward installing 300 megawatts of renewable energy on federally subsidized houses. The administration has met the goal of installing 100 megawatts of solar and other sources of renewable energy in this type of housing. The government says that this plan will enable home owners and landlords to take a loan amounting to $25,000 for the installation of the solar power.
Another benefit that will come with this plan is increased job opportunities, according to the White House. It is estimated that the solar industry led to increased jobs ten times than the rest of the economy in 2014. President Obama unveiled a plan to train 75,000 workers in the solar industry.
According to Deese, from the time Obama took over the presidency, solar power generation has expanded, while costs have reduced.
The country increased its solar energy output after every three weeks last year. This is an amount that is equal to the output in the whole of 2008.
The solar expansion will offer many financial benefits to Americans by helping them cut costs, according to Elijah Cummings a congressman who is a strong supporter of this initiative.
